Faith and Values in the Classroom: Why More Local Families Are Choosing Christian Education

Most Christian parents don't set out looking for a fight. They like their local schools. They like their child's teacher. But somewhere along the way, many notice a quiet, growing gap between what their child is being taught during the day and what the family believes at home — and they start wondering whether there's a better fit out there.

If that sounds familiar, you're far from alone.

What the Research Shows

A national survey of Christian parents found that less than half — just 43% — of those with children in public school felt their child's education aligned with their family's beliefs. Two-thirds said they were concerned about the overall quality of public education their child was receiving.

Only 43% of Christian parents with kids in public school say their education aligns with their family's beliefs — and 66% say they're concerned about the quality of public education overall.

That gap is exactly why school choice has become such a live conversation for families across the country — not as a rejection of public school teachers, most of whom work hard and care deeply about their students, but as parents exercising their right to choose the environment that best reflects what they're building at home.

It's Not About Fighting the System — It's About Choosing What's Right for Your Family

You don't have to see yourself as "against" anything to want something different for your child. Choosing a Christ-centered school is simply choosing an environment where biblical values aren't an afterthought or a Sunday-only conversation — they're woven into the whole day, alongside a serious academic foundation.

What Christ-Centered Education Looks Like at Waters Academy

At Waters Academy, faith isn't a separate subject — it's the lens the whole day is seen through. Students attend weekly chapel for worship and biblical teaching, and biblical truth is woven into how teachers approach every subject, from literature to science. But make no mistake: this isn't Bible study standing in for real academics. Our students still get a rigorous core curriculum — strong phonics and reading comprehension, a serious math program, science, STEM, and Spanish — taught in small classes where every child is known.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." — Proverbs 22:6
